Sources: Madrid’s Endrick Heads to Lyon on Loan
Loan Agreement Reached Between Lyon and Real Madrid
In a significant transfer coup, Lyon has secured the services of Brazilian striker Endrick on a six-month loan from Real Madrid. The agreement, finalized on Monday, does not include an option to make the move permanent. This deal marks the culmination of weeks of negotiations between the two clubs.
Endrick’s Journey to Lyon
The 19-year-old Endrick is expected to arrive in France on Wednesday to undergo a medical and sign his contract. Lyon will pay €1 million to Real Madrid to cover some of the player’s wages. The Brazilian striker will don the No. 9 shirt with the club. Endrick’s arrival is seen as a significant boost for Lyon and Ligue 1, as he was keen to join the French side from the outset.
Adapting to Life in France
Endrick’s decision to join Lyon was influenced by his positive discussions with manager Paulo Fonseca, who speaks his native Portuguese. He will also be reunited with other Brazilian players at the club, including Emerson and Abner. The long history of Brazilian players at Lyon, including Lucas Paquetá, Bruno Guimarães, Sonny Anderson, Juninho, and Fred, also played a part in Endrick’s decision to join the club.
Endrick’s Limited First-Team Opportunities
It appears that Endrick was not in Xabi Alonso’s plans for the current season. He has only played 11 minutes in LaLiga so far this campaign, against Valencia in November, and 11 minutes in the Champions League against Manchester City.
