American social media influencer and former YouTuber Jake Paul has been hospitalized after suffering a double broken jaw in his knockout defeat against former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. The incident occurred during their mismatch fight in Miami, where Joshua’s power eventually told in the early hours of Saturday morning GMT.

Health Update

Paul, who drove himself to the hospital after the fight, has shared an update on his health on social media. He revealed that he underwent surgery and had two titanium plates inserted on each side of his jaw, with some teeth removed. He also stated that he will be forced to eat through a straw for the next seven days.

Recovery Period

According to Paul’s promoter, Nakisa Bidarian, the recovery period is expected to be four to six weeks. Paul had initially feared that his jaw was fractured during the fight and had shared a series of graphic images and videos on his Instagram account, which appeared to show a shift in his jaw.

Despite the setback, Paul has announced that he will take a break from the sport but plans to return and fight people in his weight class. He also expressed his admiration for Joshua, stating that he got beat but that’s what this sport is about.
