Paul Hospitalized with ‘Double Broken Jaw’ After AJ Heavyweight Defeat

Details

Jake Paul, the American YouTuber and boxer, has been taken to the hospital with a suspected ‘double broken jaw’ after his defeat to Anthony Joshua in their heavyweight fight in Florida on Friday night. Joshua emerged victorious, stopping Paul in the sixth round of their bout at the Kaseya Center.
According to Paul’s promoter, Most Valuable Promotions, the 28-year-old was rushed to the hospital after the fight, where he underwent surgery to repair the damage. In a tweet, Paul shared an X-ray of his jaw, confirming that it was indeed broken in two places.
“I’m feeling good, that was fun,” Paul said in a post-fight interview, despite being battered by Joshua’s relentless barrage. “I love this sport. I gave it my all… I had a blast. Anthony’s a great fighter, I got my ass beat but that’s what this sport’s about.”
Paul’s promoter, Nikisa Bidarian, revealed that the recovery time for a broken jaw can range from four to six weeks, adding that the injury is “very common in sports, particularly in boxing or MMA.”

Reaction from Joshua and Hearn

Anthony Joshua praised Paul’s durability and spirit, saying, “I wish I could’ve knocked him out in the start. Jake has spirit, he has some heart. He tried his best. A lot of fighters haven’t got in the ring with me, and Jake did. Even when he got knocked down, he kept on trying to get up. I take my hat off to him.”
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, also commended Paul’s performance, saying, “Those injuries are very difficult to come back from but as AJ said, that last shot would have knocked out a lot of heavyweights. It was a very one-sided fight, it was always going to be a one-sided fight, but you can’t give him anything but credit and respect.”

What’s Next for Jake Paul?

Despite the setback, Paul remains optimistic about his future in boxing. In a tweet, he hinted at a possible comeback, saying, “We’re going to heal the broken jaw, fight someone my weight and go for the cruiserweight world title.”
Joshua also believes that Paul has the potential to come back stronger, saying, “America, I think you have someone who could, potentially – if he still has the heart for it – come back again, dust the dirt off his shoulder, and come again and maybe sell out this Center sometime in 2026 maybe against Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia, who knows?”
