NY Red Bulls Secure Cade Cowell on 1-Year Loan from Chivas

In a strategic move, the New York Red Bulls have bolstered their roster by signing U.S. men’s national team winger Cade Cowell on a one-year loan from Chivas Guadalajara. This development marks Cowell’s return to Major League Soccer, where he will be available to the Red Bulls for the upcoming season.

Details

The loan agreement includes an option for the Red Bulls to purchase Cowell’s rights at the end of the loan period. To facilitate the transfer, the team sent $50,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money to San Jose, which was required for Cowell’s MLS discovery priority.
Cowell, a 22-year-old winger, boasts an impressive international career, having made his U.S. national team debut in 2021. He has since accumulated one goal in 11 international appearances, with a notable strike against Trinidad and Tobago in the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The talented player holds dual citizenship, representing both the United States and Mexico.

Cowell’s Career Highlights

Prior to joining Chivas in January 2024, Cowell spent four seasons with the San Jose Earthquakes, scoring 10 goals in 104 regular-season appearances. During his time with Chivas, he netted 12 goals in two years, including eight in Liga MX, three in the CONCACAF Champions League, and one in the Leagues Cup.

Red Bulls’ Roster Boost

The addition of Cowell to the Red Bulls’ roster is expected to enhance the team’s attacking capabilities. With his experience and skillset, Cowell is poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming season.
