Goalkeepers Shine at FIFA Awards
In a night of celebration for the world’s best footballers, two exceptional goalkeepers stood out from the rest. Hannah Hampton, England’s talented 25-year-old, was named the Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper, while Gianluigi Donnarumma, the Italian sensation, took home the men’s award.

Details

Hampton’s impressive season saw her help Chelsea win the domestic treble and lead England to a Euro 2025 title defense. Her remarkable performance earned her a spot in every game for both club and country, including an unbeaten Women’s Super League season with Chelsea. Hampton’s 13 clean sheets earned her the Golden Glove award, and she expressed her gratitude to England manager Sarina Weigman and Chelsea boss Sonia Bompastor for their faith in her abilities.
“I want to thank my manager and club for believing in me this year,” Hampton said. “With club and country, we’ve achieved so much, and there’s still much more for us to go and get. To the fans, both club and country, your support doesn’t go unnoticed. We hear you cheering every single game loud and proud, and it helps push us on to get the win for you all.”
Donnarumma, who played a crucial role in Paris St-Germain’s first Champions League triumph, joined Manchester City this summer and has already made a significant impact. His award is a testament to his exceptional skills and dedication to the sport.

Other Award Winners

Lizbeth Ovalle won the Marta Award for the best goal in women’s football with her scorpion kick for Tigres against Guadalajara in Mexico’s Liga MX Femenil in March. Ovalle now plays for Orlando Pride in the National Women’s Soccer League in the US.
Santiago Montiel took home the Puskas Award for the best goal in men’s football with his overhead kick from outside the box against Independiente Rivadavia in the Argentine Primera Division in May.
