Salah Deserves a Proper Send-Off, Says Jamie Carragher
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has expressed his desire to see Mohamed Salah complete the current season with the Reds, despite doubts surrounding his future at the club.
Salah’s Uncertain Future
Salah’s recent comments, in which he claimed the club “threw him under the bus,” have sparked controversy and raised questions about his time at Anfield coming to an end. However, Carragher believes the Egyptian forward should return from the Africa Cup of Nations in January and see out the season.
Carragher’s Plea
“I don’t see Salah playing for Liverpool next season,” Carragher said on Monday Night Football. “The big thing in my mind is whether we are going to see him from now until the end of the season.”
Carragher praised manager Arne Slot for including Salah in the starting lineup against Brighton, despite recent tensions between the two. He also highlighted Salah’s emotional reaction at full-time, which he believes was a sign of the player’s uncertainty about his future at the club.
A Final Farewell
Carragher urged Salah to put aside any differences with the manager and focus on completing the season with the Reds. He believes the forward deserves a proper send-off, including a guard of honour, a display in the Kop, and the opportunity to bring his family onto the pitch.
“He deserves a big send-off,” Carragher said. “The worst thing that is going to happen is that he gets a big send-off. The best thing that could happen is he’s walking out with his teammates in Budapest in a Champions League final.”
