Gary Lineker Urges Patience as Thomas Frank Faces Sack Pressure at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur’s head coach, Thomas Frank, has come under intense scrutiny following the team’s 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest. However, former Spurs striker Gary Lineker is calling for patience, suggesting that only the club’s board truly understands the level of pressure surrounding Frank.

Lineker’s Perspective

In a recent interview on The Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker emphasized that it’s premature to question Frank’s future, citing the fact that only the ownership knows where he stands. “When we say these things, only the owners know really, don’t they?” Lineker asked. “They’ve had a decent week, going OK in the Champions League, generally, but one or two good results, it’s a bit up and down, isn’t it?”

Frank’s Challenges

Lineker highlighted the shift in approach from Ange Postecoglou to Frank, acknowledging their difficulties during the previous campaign. “Well, they were very gung-ho with obviously Ange Postecoglou, weren’t they? We did get entertaining games one way or the other. Whereas I think Thomas is probably more pragmatic in his approach,” Lineker said.

Supporters’ Frustration

The supporters are not the only ones feeling the strain, as Frank has disclosed his anger following the Nottingham Forest setback. “I think I do everything to control my emotions. There is a hurricane inside me, because it’s deeply frustrating we are not doing better (here) after three good performances,” Frank said.

Looking Ahead

Focus must swiftly shift to Saturday evening’s showdown with Liverpool, who have been enduring their own difficulties. Should Spurs wish to continue their ascent up the league, they will need to give their all to defeat the reigning champions in the battle for a spot in the Champions League.
