Salah’s Liverpool Outburst Sparks Controversy

Legendary Manager Weighs In

Dutch football icon Ruud Gullit has added his voice to the growing debate surrounding Mohamed Salah’s explosive comments about Liverpool. The Egyptian forward sparked controversy after expressing his frustration with the club and manager Arne Slot, claiming he felt “thrown under the bus” and that his relationship with Slot had broken down.
Speaking on beIN Sports’ Champions League coverage, Gullit, a two-time European Cup winner and three-time Serie A champion with AC Milan, expressed his disappointment with Salah’s decision to air his grievances publicly.
“What is the motivation for it?” Gullit asked. “You want to leave? Look, the point is this: I have been in the same situation as him with Milan. Same situation. That is the wrong thing [that Salah did]. You should keep it to yourself, and then you have to deal with it. Not with the press, not before a match that is very important to everyone.”
Gullit’s comments come after Salah was left on the bench for a third consecutive league game, sparking speculation about his future at the club. The forward has over 350 goal involvements for Liverpool and had started 53 consecutive Premier League matches before Slot dropped him against West Ham United.

Salah’s Performance Raises Questions

Gullit also questioned Salah’s recent form, suggesting that his poor performance on the pitch was a contributing factor to his frustration. “No, no, no! Did he play well the last couple of weeks? He’s been awful, he plays awful. He didn’t play well for a reason and in the studio here, they all defended Mo Salah. This was not the right thing to do. It was not. Especially when you don’t play well.”

Debate Continues

Gullit’s intervention adds to the growing debate around Salah’s comments, with former Liverpool striker Michael Owen previously expressing similar sentiments. The situation remains uncertain, with Salah’s future at the club hanging in the balance.
