Hibs’ Season Yet to Take Off, but a Derby Win Could Provide the Boost They Need

Hibernian’s campaign has been underwhelming, with a lack of statement wins a major concern. Despite being fifth in the table, the team’s performance has not lived up to expectations, particularly after their third-place finish last season.

David Gray’s Leadership

Head coach David Gray has a steady hand at the helm, but the team’s inability to build on last season’s momentum has raised questions about their direction. The break-up with Bill Foley and his Black Knight group in November added to the uncertainty.

The Importance of the Edinburgh Derby

A win over Hearts in the derby at Easter Road on Saturday could provide the boost Hibs desperately need. It would not only give them renewed vigour but also put a dent in the title aspirations of their city rivals.

Disappointing Second Half

Hibs were the better side in the first half, but their second-half performance was disappointing. They created very little and failed to capitalize on their opportunities, ultimately ending in a 1-1 draw against Dundee United.

Looking Ahead

With the teams above them still within touching distance, a home win over Hearts would see Hibs step into the new year with renewed confidence. However, they will need to show more quality in the final third of the pitch to achieve their goals.
