and Liverpool are reportedly vying for the services of Sheffield Wednesday’s highly-rated 17-year-old left back, Yisa Alao. The teenager has been making waves in the Championship, impressing scouts from top-flight clubs with his performances at youth level. Despite being a part of the first team, Alao is yet to commit to a professional contract, prompting Premier League clubs to sense an opportunity.

The Transfer Battle

Manchester United have lodged a bid in the region of £450,000 for the Doncaster-born defender, while Liverpool are believed to be weighing up a similar offer. Other clubs are also waiting in the wings, eager to snap up the talented youngster. Wednesday are also attempting to tie down Alao’s team-mate, Will Grainger, to a professional deal, as the teenage striker is also drawing attention from top-flight clubs.

Sheffield Wednesday’s Struggles

The South Yorkshire side remains rooted to the bottom of the Championship table on minus nine points after a series of deductions. Wednesday were initially docked 12 points in October after the club filed for administration, before being hit with a further six-point deduction by the EFL for regulation breaches. The Owls are currently 29 points behind Portsmouth, who sit just above the relegation zone in 21st place.
