Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr Future in Jeopardy as FIFA Imposes Severe Ban
Details
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr team has been dealt a significant blow as FIFA has confirmed a severe ban on future signings. The ban, which was announced on Friday, will severely impact the club’s ability to strengthen its roster and potentially jeopardize its future in the Saudi Pro League.
According to FIFA’s Registration Ban List, Al Nassr has been prohibited from registering new players, with no end date specified. This is not the first time the club has faced a similar situation, having received a similar ban in July 2023 due to irregularities in the signing of Ahmed Musa from Leicester City. On that occasion, the club resolved the issue by paying approximately €2 million, which led FIFA to lift the ban.
The ban is a significant blow to Al Nassr head coach Jorge Jesus, who will struggle to strengthen his team without being able to register new players. The club’s ability to compete in the Saudi Pro League and potentially in international competitions will also be severely impacted.
Other Clubs Facing Similar Issues
Al Nassr is not the only club from Saudi Arabia currently listed on the FIFA Registration Ban List. More than a dozen teams from different divisions in the country are also temporarily barred from registering new players, including Al Shabab, Al Riyadh SC, and Damak. Outside Saudi Arabia, several other clubs are currently dealing with the same issue, including Boavista of Portugal, FK Partizan Belgrade of Serbia, San Lorenzo of Argentina, and Corinthians of Brazil.
