Past Winners of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award
The award has a rich history, with footballers being the first to win it in 1966, courtesy of Bobby Moore. The prize was taken out of the sport’s hands for over 20 years, when Paul Gascoigne won it in 1990. Other notable winners include Beth Mead, England international, who became the first female footballer to win the award in 2022, followed by Mary Earps in 2023.
