Italian Supercoppa: Højlund Fires Napoli Past Milan to Reach Final

Details

Napoli’s Rasmus Højlund scored the decisive goal in a 2-0 victory over AC Milan in the Italian Supercoppa semifinals. The win sends Napoli to the final, where they will face either Inter Milan or Bologna on Monday.
The match was played at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on December 18, 2025. Napoli, the reigning Serie A champions, had been struggling with consecutive defeats to Benfica and Udinese before this match. AC Milan, the current Supercoppa holders, were also facing inconsistent form, having dropped points against Sassuolo and being eliminated from the Coppa Italia by Lazio.
David Neres opened the scoring for Napoli in the 39th minute, but it was Højlund who sealed the victory with a superb finish from a tight angle in the 63rd minute. The Manchester United loanee’s goal doubled Napoli’s lead and secured their spot in the final.
AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan had a difficult night, with Napoli creating several scoring opportunities. However, he was unable to prevent the two goals that ultimately decided the match. The frustration of the loss boiled over for Milan, with Scott McTominay and Fikayo Tomori receiving yellow cards after a coming together.
Napoli’s victory sets up a thrilling final, with the winner to be determined on Monday. The match will be a closely watched contest, with Napoli looking to add another trophy to their collection.
