Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United Revamp: USMNT Star in Crosshairs
Details
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly eyeing a high-profile signing to bolster his squad’s midfield, with a USMNT star from the Premier League at the top of his wishlist. Tyler Adams, a midfielder currently plying his trade with AFC Bournemouth, has emerged as a prime target for the Red Devils.
Adams, who has re-established himself as a regular starter after battling back issues last season, is viewed as a strong tactical fit for Amorim’s approach. However, timing remains a significant obstacle, with Bournemouth reluctant to part with another core contributor midway through the season.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Adams is valued at €25 million by Transfermarkt, making him an attainable option for United. A winter move appears unlikely, but a deal could be revisited for the 2026-27 season.
Amorim’s pursuit of Adams is part of a broader effort to address Manchester United’s midfield concerns. The team has struggled to find defensive stability, conceding 26 goals in 16 Premier League matches. Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro have often been tasked with anchoring the midfield, but Manuel Ugarte has fallen out of favor, and uncertainty surrounding Kobbie Mainoo’s future has intensified the need for reinforcements.
In addition to Adams, United are reportedly also considering Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton. However, their current importance to their clubs and high transfer fees make them more realistic targets for next season.
