Juventus Eyeing Xaver Schlager for Summer Transfer
The Italian giants are reportedly looking ahead to the summer transfer window, with their sights set on securing the services of RB Leipzig midfielder Xaver Schlager.
Details
According to reports from Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus are interested in signing Schlager on a free transfer in June. The 28-year-old Austria international’s contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, and it is believed that he could be tempted away from the Bundesliga.
Schlager has made 134 appearances in the Bundesliga, but has not been a guaranteed starter under Ole Werner at Red Bull Arena. Despite this, he is a highly skilled central midfielder who is capable of playing in both a three-man and two-man midfield setup.
Background
The Austria international suffered a cruciate ligament injury in May 2024, which kept him sidelined for most of the 2024-25 campaign. Before then, he was a regular starter for RB Leipzig, making 29 Bundesliga appearances and eight in the Champions League in the 2023-24 season.
Why Juventus?
Schlager’s versatility and experience in the Bundesliga make him an attractive target for Juventus. The Bianconeri are looking to strengthen their midfield options, and Schlager’s ability to play in both a three-man and two-man midfield setup would make him a valuable addition to the team.
