Salah Should Leave Liverpool for Saudi Pro League – Mido
Former Egypt and Tottenham Striker Weighs In
In a recent interview with Sky Sports News, Ahmed Hossam Mido, a former Egypt and Tottenham striker, expressed his thoughts on Mohamed Salah’s recent outburst and the subsequent fallout. Mido believes that Salah should consider leaving Liverpool and joining the Saudi Pro League.
Mido, who has experienced similar pressure during his playing days, understands the intense national pressure and deep emotional ties that come with being a key player for Egypt. He explained that when the Liverpool game is on, all of Egypt is watching, waiting for Salah to play and score a goal. This pressure can be overwhelming, and Mido believes that Salah needs to prioritize his well-being.
“I think he should leave,” Mido said. “I think it’s time for him to leave. If you lose this confidence with the manager, it’s hard to be fixed. But if he leaves, he must leave from the big door, if you know what I mean. He’s done so much for Liverpool. He’s a legend.”
Mido also defended Salah from criticism by Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, stating that Carragher should know that football players sometimes get emotional and that Salah deserves more respect from the Liverpool legends.
Mido believes that the Saudi Pro League would be an ideal destination for Salah, citing the league’s strength, competitiveness, and global reach. He thinks that the league would be a great fit for Salah, who is a legend in the Middle East and an idol for young kids.
“If Salah moves, I really hope he goes to Saudi Arabia,” Mido said. “It’s a strong league, a good competitive league. Now the league is broadcast in more than 90 or 100 countries, playing against big players, big names week in, week out.”
Mido also expressed his disappointment with the way Liverpool has handled the situation, stating that Salah has been criticized unfairly and that the club should have protected him more.
“If you look at the numbers, I don’t think Liverpool would have been the champions last season if it wasn’t for Mohamed Salah,” Mido said. “Important goals. I think if he could take these goals away from Liverpool, I think they would have finished fourth and fifth.”
Mido believes that if Salah were English, he would have never been in the same situation, stating that English legends are often protected by their clubs.
