Kylian Mbappé on Verge of Breaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s Legendary Scoring Record

Real Madrid’s Star Forward Closes in on Iconic Goal-Scoring Milestone

Kylian Mbappé’s impressive form for Real Madrid has put him on the cusp of breaking one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s most iconic goal-scoring records at the club. The Spanish giants’ reliance on their star forward has grown exponentially, and Mbappé’s latest goal against Deportivo Alavés has moved him one step closer to history.
With 56 goals in the 2025 calendar year, Mbappé needs just four more to become Real Madrid’s all-time single-year top scorer, a record currently held by Cristiano Ronaldo, who achieved 59 goals in 2013 during his time at the Bernabéu. Mbappé’s dramatic turnaround at the club has been nothing short of remarkable, with 30 goals across all competitions in the first half of the year and 26 so far this season.
Mbappé’s impressive goal-scoring record has seen him become the only player outside of Ronaldo to crack Real Madrid’s top five list for goals in a calendar year. The list currently stands as follows:
* Cristiano Ronaldo — 2013: 59 goals
* Cristiano Ronaldo — 2012: 58 goals
* Cristiano Ronaldo — 2014: 56 goals
* Kylian Mbappé — 2025: 56 goals
* Cristiano Ronaldo — 2015: 54 goals
With limited opportunities remaining as the calendar year winds down, Mbappé will be eager to chase down Ronaldo’s record. Real Madrid have just two games left in 2025, with the next fixture against Talavera CF in the Copa del Rey Round of 32 on Wednesday, December 17, presenting a prime opportunity for Mbappé to add to his tally.
