Ex-Juventus Winger Reveals Ideal January Signing
Former Juventus winger Massimo Mauro has expressed his concerns about the team’s current state, stating that they still lack a centre-forward and won’t be favourites when Roma visit them next week. Speaking to Gazzetta, Mauro highlighted the squad’s issue with depth, particularly in the centre-forward position, which has been exacerbated by the injury to Dusan Vlahovic.
Centre-Forward Conundrum
Mauro emphasized the need for a centre-forward who can carry the attack on his own, much like Victor Osimhen of Napoli. He believes that such a player would be a driving force for the team and would make a significant difference in their performances. The former winger also praised Luciano Spalletti, who has been in charge of Juventus since October, for his ability to get the best out of his players.
January Transfer Window
However, Mauro doesn’t expect big moves to Turin in the January transfer window. He believes that Juventus didn’t sell good players in the summer and therefore wouldn’t know where to turn for quality signings. Mauro also highlighted the lack of important Italian players in the squad, which he believes is a significant issue.
Spalletti’s Challenge
Despite the challenges ahead, Mauro has praised Spalletti for his ability to build a team of the future while hoping to finish in the top four. He believes that Spalletti is one of the best coaches Juventus could hire, along with Conte and Gasperini. Mauro also emphasized that Spalletti can’t be the problem and has to build the team of the future.
